June Panther Press

June 2016 Panther Press

Panther PressThe 2015-2016 school year is quickly coming to a close. The JCS students, family, and staff have all worked so hard to make this a great year.  Thank you to everyone for their many contributions to the school. I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful learning institution. I look forward to seeing all of you at our end of the school year events.  Be sure to check the calendar at jcsk8.org so that you do not miss any special end of the year events.

To express our gratitude for all of the parents and community members that volunteer at Jacoby Creek School, the staff will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Tea on June 1 (tomorrow) at 8:45 AM in the library.  Please come enjoy coffee, tea, treats, music and good company.  Thank you so much volunteers!!!

Email Communication

Please make sure that your email information is up to date with our office prior to the end of the school year. We are using email and jcsk8.org to share information and it is important that the school has the correct contact information for your family. Also, please let the office know if you do not use email and would prefer mail. Thank you!

Registration for 2016-2017

We currently have waiting lists for all grades except first and second grade.  Please pass the word if you know any families with a student that will be in first or second grade next year that are interested in attending JCS.

If your child currently attends JCS, they are already registered at our school and are guaranteed a spot next year.  If you know that your family will not be attending JCS next year, please let the office know so that we are aware of any available spaces for other families who may be interested in attending.

Interdistrict Transfers—Please get this done ASAP!!!!

By the start of the 2016-2017 school year, all JCS students living outside of the district boundaries will need to get an interdistrict transfer from their district of residence.  This is a document that you will get from your child’s “neighborhood school.”  The interdistrict transfer is an agreement between your child’s district of residence school, Jacoby Creek School, and you.  Your interdistrict transfer will need to be renewed annually.  Your child’s interdistrict transfer will need to be filed with the school by the start of next year. Please consider taking care of this prior to the end of this school year, as many school offices are closed or operating under different schedules during the summer.   Please call the office if you have any questions about interdistrict transfers.  We would be happy to help you!

Outstanding Balances

Please assist us in wrapping up the school year in an organized fashion. Be sure to pay any outstanding daycare, lunch, and library fine bills as soon as possible.  Also, if you are able to donate to cover the cost of your child’s After School Enrichment Classes, please send in donations as soon as possible.

Immunizations Requirements

Recent California legislation requires that all students entering Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and seventh grade are up to date on their immunizations.  We will not be able to allow students to start school next year that do not meet this requirement.  Please make sure that your child is ready to start the 2016-2017 school year.  More information about this law can be found at www.shotsforschool.org. Please call the office if you have any questions about how this impacts your child.

Information Regarding Health Care for Students

California passed legislation that allows all low-income undocumented children and youth under nineteen years of age to enroll in full-scope Medi-Cal. Medi-Cal coverage will provide previously ineligible undocumented children access to the full array of health care services they need to stay healthy and ready to learn. The expansion of full-scope Medi-Cal to undocumented children begins on May 16, 2016. Families should apply for restricted-scope Medi-Cal for their children as soon as possible. Children who are enrolled in restricted-scope Medi-Cal (also known as emergency Medi-Cal) will be automatically enrolled into full-scope Medi-Cal when the expansion begins on May 16, 2016. Please contact the office or visit the ALL IN For Health Campaign Web page for more information.
