About Mr. Mack
I have been in education for over 40 years. I have a teaching background in instrumental music, reading. language arts, social studies and technology. In early 2000s I traveled across the USA presenting at regional and national conferences on educational technology. I also developed and coordinated a number of online projects for K-12 classrooms.
I love living in the Arcata area where you can find me feeding birds, learning Brazilian Portuguese, reading, watching the Seattle Seahawks, and making my own Kombucha.

2016-03-14 Mack Notes
Welcome to the third trimester !
It’s hard to believe we are starting the final third of the school year. One change you will notice is with the expectations for spelling. I will now be grading and recording the students’ spelling paragraphs and sentences.
The paragraphs provide practice with editing. We correct a passage with many errors together, and the students recopy the paragraph fixing all of the grammatical and spelling errors. My goal is for the students to work carefully and to put forth their best effort.
Each week the students will also create ten spelling sentences (one sentence for each spelling word). The total points possible for sentences is 40 (4 points/sentence). Students will earn one point for each of the following:
- Sentence begins with a capital letter
- Sentence ends with appropriate punctuation mark
- Spelling word is underlined and spelled correctly in the sentence
- Spelling word is used correctly in the sentence
